The combined Level 1 and 2 course provides training towards the new Independent Practitioner (IP) Level 2 SCCT certification, as well as current BSCI Level 2 and EACVI Level 2 certifications. Prior level 1 training is not required for this course.
These courses have been well attended, with participation from radiologists and cardiologists from all over the UK and abroad. Doctors from related professions, such as nuclear medicine and cardiac surgery, have also participated in the course to obtain a better understanding of cardiac CT. Please note that this course is NOT intended for radiographers or technicians.
This course aims to teach the various steps and processes involved in the acquisition and interpretation of cardiac CT for radiologists, cardiologists, and nuclear physicians who wish to report Cardiac CT independently. Participants learn a systematic way to review and interpret a large amount of data available from a single cardiac CTA study, which can be adapted to any modern workstation.
The course comprises two components:
Part A: Two days of pre-course lectures on an online e-learning platform that delegates are required to complete before attending the course (involving at least 14-16 hours of study). This allows the participants to acquire familiarity with cardiac CT techniques and principles before attending the course, thus allowing more time for hands-on training. If you wish to undertake only the online lectures for now, please enrol on https://courses.ukimaging.org/, and you can enrol in the Level 2 course later on. If you do enrol on the Level 2 course within one year, the online lecture fees will be refunded.
Part B: Six-day hands-on training on cardiac CT software, supervised and mentored by Level 3 Cardiac CT trainers.
The courses are held in two formats:
Online course: Both Part A and Part B components are undertaken online (subject to you having the necessary technically suitable equipment).
On-site course: Part A is undertaken online before the Part B course, which is held on-site with both participants and trainers physically present.
Some of the main features of this course are:
- Hands-on training delivered by advanced Level 3 cardiac CT practitioners with extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of cardiac imaging in tertiary cardio-thoracic centres.
- Learning a systematic review method of cardiac CTs comprising of coronary arteries, cardiac chambers, myocardium, valves, and pericardium.
- Each participant has an individual workstation for hands-on training (no sharing of workstations) with advanced TeraRecon post-processing software installed.
- Hands-on training is provided over 6 days, covering almost 200 cardiac CT cases as per SCCT requirements for Level 2 certification.
- Extensive correlation with cath and other imaging techniques.
- Live recorded cases of actual scans being performed.
- Lifetime access to the online e-learning platform.
- Certified by SCCT for Level 1 and 2 training (SCCT has no involvement with the organisation or administration of this course. SCCT endorses the content as relevant and beneficial to the cardiovascular computed tomography community).
- Completion of the course provides 46 CPD credits in accordance with the CPD Scheme of The Royal College of Radiologists.
This course is NOT for those wishing to do only level 1 training.
